Laura Joanknecht
Laura is an accredited psychotherapist, psychosexual and relationship therapist, clinical supervisor, lecturer, and researcher with over 30 years' experience supporting individuals, couples, professionals, and organisations. Throughout her career she has combined clinical practice, education, and leadership, holding roles including Clinical Lead within a rape crisis service, university lecturer, and Programme Lead in psychosexual therapy training.
Alongside her clinical work, Laura is passionate about developing the profession through teaching, research, and collaboration. She is Research Director for SPARC (Sexology & Psychotherapy Applied Research Centre) and Lead Tutor for the Institute of Psychosexual Psychotherapy's Level 7 Psychosexual Therapy Diploma. Her particular interests include trauma, abuse, sexual wellbeing, high-control groups, and helping practitioners develop confidence, compassion, and ethical integrity in their work.
Laura is delighted to serve as an ATSAC Trustee and is committed to supporting the organisation's mission to promote excellence in the assessment and treatment of problematic sexual behaviours through evidence-informed practice, education, and collaboration.
